Culture Commons worked with the English Civic Museums Network made up of nearly 100 museums based in England.

Through a series of roundtables, policy labs and desk based research, we supported the network to:

  • Identify the implications of a new UK Government for the museums sector

  • Map and collate the shared impacts and missions of the network membership

  • Develop a new set of policy priorities for civic museums that align with the UK Government’s five national missions

  • Scope opportunities for more sustainable operating models to secure the future of civic museums

  • Bolster the organisational structure of the network

We produced a comprehensive internal report for the English Civic Museums network, bringing together the findings, implications and recommendations emanating from each stage of the process.

This report helped the English Civic Museums in England to secure £20 million of additional investment from the UK Government through a new Museums Renewal Fund.
